Alehouse Narratives 2016

Monday Nov. 21st, 2016 / 7PM

Write Drunk. Edit Sober.

Write drunk! Edit sober. That was our original call to arms. Somebody attributed the quote to Ernest Hemingway, but we were never able to verify its source. Still, we like the idea. It is an aesthetics inspired (consciously or unconsciously) by the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche, who wrote a book about Greek tragedy, entitled The Birth of Tragedy. The Dionysian spirit responds to drink and connects us to an ancient set of energies. The Apollonian spirit works to create order and form. Alehouse Narratives celebrates this combination.

Listening to poetry in a coffee shop or at an art gallery is great. We invite you to come drink a couple of pints or glasses of wine while people share their stories and poems. Experience how much fun going to a reading can be.
